(Aug. 9, 2017) Over the last 19 years, the Treatment Advocacy Center has regularly published Catalyst -- our newsletter at the intersection of severe mental illness, treatment and public policy. While the look and feel has changed from the first welcome issue, our focused has remained on providing updates on the full range of issues affecting people living with serious mental illness and their families and communities.
We also have released a handful of special editions of Catalyst. For example, we produced one highlighting many of the resources located in our get help page and the 15th Anniversary edition with a review of our numerous accomplishments.
In our spring 2017 issue, we highlight the passage of the landmark 21st Century Cures Act, our report Emptying the 'New Asylums': A Beds Capacity Model to Reduce Mental Illness Behind Bars and the 2016 Torrey Advocacy Commendation recipients. It also includes “Around the States,” a robust round up of legislative news from around the states.
