Spring 2017 Catalyst Is Now Online

spring-2017-catalyst(June 8, 2017) The latest of Catalyst, our newsletter at the intersection of severe mental illness, treatment and public policy, is now available.

Thanks to your hard work and advocacy, we have much to celebrate! We have witnessed the reality of mental health reform with the bipartisan passage of the 21st Century Cures Act. The Act will reform the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), increase the number of psychiatric beds nationwide and address the criminalization of serious mental illness.

As always, there is a robust round up of legislative news from the states. This edition features an up-close look at the successful effort to override the Kentucky governor's veto of Tim's Law, ensuring assisted outpatient treatment will be available for those in the state who suffer from severe mental illness.

Catalyst also introduces the 2016 Torrey Advocacy Commendations recipients, two of the Office of Research and Public Affairs' recently research studies (Emptying the 'New Asylums' and Released, Relapsed and Rehospitalized) and SAMHSA's new assisted outpatient treatment initiatives.

Read about this and more in the current issue of Catalyst. If we have your snail mail address, check your mailbox for your copy.
